About the book

Like Hannibal Crosses the Alps, this book joins manuscript research with a direct retracing of the ancient route followed by the Spartans. John Prevas traveled through remote mountain regions of eastern Turkey, along the Black Sea and along the borders with Syria and Iraq to gain the perspective necessary to understand what transpired over two thousand five hundred years ago.

The result is a retelling of an ancient story that brings movement, geography, and risk to one of the most famous campaigns in classical history.
